What is Important

With the world in a bit of chaos, the economy less than stable, and the government gone slightly insane, we often forget what is actually important. First and foremost is the personal relationship each of us has with God. We were created to be a family for God, and to strive daily to be closer to him, but that is a different subject for a different blog. Personally I tend to get caught up with my daily tasks, such as work, and I miss the life that I am working to support. It is very important that we never lose sight of the big picture of what is important, and ironicly, the best way to do that, is to focus on the little things. Husbands, never forget to kiss your wife before you leave for work, and always tell her that you love her before you walk out the door, that is important. Remember to start each day with a thankful heart, because in my experience, I have learned that thankfulness brings joy, while being unthankful brings loss. Take every opportunity that comes along to tell others how much you appreciate them. This can be very difficult, especially for us tough guys, but I have learned that the strongest man is the man that is not affraid to be vulnerable to others. Parents, cherish every little kiss, hug, or in my case tackle, that you get from your children. Mine is still small, but I have already learned that if you turn your head, they will grow up before you can turn back around. Employees, give your employers all you can for the time they are paying you, not only is that the right thing to do naturally, it is the God thing to do. Citizens, embrace the wonderful country God has blessed you to live in, because no matter what others say, America is the best country in the world, and God has blessed her from day one, and we must fight to keep from losing what many of us seem to take for granted. Spend a little extra time with your family each day, preferrably without the noise of the television in the background, and make sure that before they close their eyes each night, there is no doubt in their minds about how much you love them. So, what really is important? Are we as a society so consumed with consuming that we fail to enjoy what God has already given us? When it is all said and done, the stuff we have is meaningless, and no ammount of it will ever fulfill us. Just remember that the most important thing, aside from our time and relationship with God, is people, and how we treat them. We were not only created to be children of God, but we were also created to be brothers and sisters to those around us. A selfish life is a life of waste, and one who gives himself freely to others is the richest man in the world, not for what he has, but for who he is. Do something nice for someone you love today, it will make their lives just a little bit better, and ultimately, that is what is important.
